During the portfolio project the main things I learnt were how to layout a portfolio and what to include. Analysing past portfolios was really helpful as it presented me with an end goal as to how my own portfolio was to be presented. Collecting work was a fairly simple task but I found it challenging as to how present my work. I think this is because I do not have a style of my own, however I do think that the project has given me a view of what I like and I have discovered similarities between the things I do. This is the beginning process of me developing a style. I do not want to force a style however in upcoming projects and work I will keep an eye out if there are any more similarities between the way I work to then enhance and work on more till I finalise a ‘style’.
My 121 with Dan was also very helpful as I was informed of what i was missing and how to make my work better visually and easier to understand. I was advised to add fabric samples and sample CAD prints too. When it came to my interviews I was glad I had been directed to do so as it did not make my portfolio so 2D.
