At the beginning of the week I created five samples using crochet, macrame, weaving and finger knitting techniques. All techniques were very different and produced varying outcomes. I conducted a separate post on these five samples, analysing and evaluating what I had done.
This week I also began designing. I began by creating my first design development board. From this I created a few designs. The final design I created was a boiler suit, jumpsuit type of silhouette inspired by one of the responses of my research. To develop on this idea I looked into protective clothing used particularly to protect humans from pesticides which leak into water sources. After getting acquainted with the silhouette of a safety suit, I collaged the textile samples into a range of designs using influencers as muses. From this I chose 3 collages to take forward and expand on. Using a new muse I expanded from the collages, then picked one style to develop a final line up from.
I am happy with my final line up as I think each design works quite well together. If I could change one thing it would be the colour scheme as previously I had experienced a problem due to the availability of the recycled clothes. As i had no dark murky greens in my archive I decided to alter the colour palette to include a dark navy that was a lightweight, resistant material.
