Week 2 of the project was all about experimentation. I extracted shapes from my three words which were Charlie Chaplin, magnify and chaos. As i experimented with shapes i came to a general concept of ‘Distortion’ which would combine all my words. This came from researching the word MAGNIFY and coming across images of a muse distorting her face with a glass of water. This caused chaos which is my other word. Charlie Chaplin links to distortion as he distorted the film industry by creating something new and popular. Distortion is the action of distorting or the state of being distorted but also the action of giving a misleading account or impression, which is what Chaplin does as an actor.
From this I developed shapes to create a wall paper. I like my final textile pattern however if I was to do this again I would put a range of effects onto the shape to make it more distorted instead of just cutting it and resizing.
